We use premium “Long Needle Pine Straw” and are supplied by the same vendors that install pine straw for the Masters in Augusta GA.  Typically pine straw that you would purchase at Home Depot or have installed at under $5 per bail is often referred to as slash because it contains a mixture of sticks, pine cones and a lesser quality pine straw that retains its color and freshness about half as long as “Long Needle Pine Straw”.  4 Bales of our Premium Straw go as far as 5 ½ bales of regular pine straw.
